Welcome to our Web site!Valor Dachs Kennels is named after our first Champion Longhaired Dachshund, CH Bavaria Dachs Rudy Valor. Rudy was whelped in 1982. His father, CH Han-Jo's Ulysses L (Uly) and his grandfather, CH B's Javelin de Bayard (Java) are among the best all-time Longhaired Dachshund Show Dogs each were multiple Best in Show winners. When we acquired Rudy from Dr. Ingeborg Kremer, we were looking for a pet to replace our first Longhaired Dachshund, Max. Max was only 6 years old when he died of a congenital heart defect. Our vet recommended that we get our next Dachshund from a Show Dog Breeder rather than a pet store or ad in the newspaper as we had done when acquiring Max. Our vet said that by buying from a Show Breeder, we could be assured that the puppies were bred for sound health plus excellent quality and temperament. Dr. Kremer sold us Rudy with the understanding that we would show him. We wanted a sound healthy dog, so we agreed. Another Show Dog family was started that day. We exhibited and finished Rudy ourselves. Not only was Rudy a great show dog, but as all our pet quality Dachshunds before him, he was also obedience trained. Rudy won High in Trial at an All-breed Dog Show from the Novice group scoring 198 1/2 points out of 200. The trophy is bigger than he! Yoda, whelped in 1999, is following in the tradition of well rounded Dachshunds. He is not only a Champion of the Breed, nationally ranked in the Top 20 by breed in 2002, but also has earned his first Obedience Title (CD) and he is the first Dachshund in the area to earn an Agility Title (NAJ). He is also continuing to vie in Field Trials and more Agility Trials. Yoda has a High in Trial at the Dachshund Club of St. Louis, Fall 2002 Specialty show! He is our second dog to achieve this special accomplishment. The tradition is continues! Yoda will be coming back out of retirement in September 2005 to compete once again in the Conformation Shows as a "Specials" Dog and to begin pursuit of his Rally Obedience Titles.. Our Bred-By Exhibitor puppies are doing very well. We have our first BBEX Champion, Schatze. See Our Champions for details and pictures. Her sister, Valor Dachs Rhubarb "Barbie" also finished her championship in June 2004. Brothers "BJ" and "Max" are each just two points away from qualifying for their championships too. Brother "Hans" is waiting his turn. He will begin his show career in the fall of 2005. The dame of this litter, CH Ger's Noela Katrina LH, "Katy", is continuing her show career. She finished her conformation championshnip with four 4-point Majors. This spring at the DCA National Specialty Show, she placed 4th in the Open All Age Bitches at the Field Trials to earn 8 1/4 points toward her Field Trial Championship. Katy, Yoda, and Erik are training also in Earth Dog. We will enter them in ED trials this fall. We have miniature Dachshunds too. Erik and Annie are currently entertaining us with their unique personalities. Erik is training side-by-side with his buddy, Yoda, in Agility. See his pictures on the Champions Page . Annie's puppy, Valor Dachs Andromeda ML, Rommie, has launched her show career and earned her first points at Moberly KC show in June, 2004. She has since gone Best of Variety twice in October of 2004. Way to go Roomie! Erik's first litter has two currently showing in conformation and one, Hopple Dachs Cinderella "Cinders" is also a Field Trial Champion. At the September 2004 Crab Orchard KC shows in Belleville, IL Erik had three of his get in the show - a crème boy, a black and tan girl, and a red boy. Way to go! Erik is available for stud to qualified bitches. Contact us for information. Annie is our crème and also a finished champion. She is a doll. Her first love is in Field Trials. You should see the little dynamo sniff out the rabbit's trail. She may well be the first Champion crème miniature Longhaired Dachshund to earn a Field Champion Title. Annie is due to whelp a litter of six about July 1, 2005. A wait-list is already underway. If you are interested, contact us. |
